Stein Fibers Ltd. is a proud sponsor of the endowed Sidney J. Stein Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a student in the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University on the basis of exceptional academics, leadership, and community service. The scholarship of $2500 per semester remains with the same scholar throughout their Undergraduate degree provided they remain in good standing with the College of Textiles Scholarship Committee and the University.

The current recipient of the scholarship is Julisha Joyner, of Greenville, North Carolina. After graduating from South Central High School in 2007, Julisha enrolled in the College of Textiles with a double major of Polymer Color Chemistry and Textile Engineering. At NC State, Julisha is a university ambassador and enjoys watching the football team. Her academic interests relate to the technology used to make bullet proof vests, flame proof suits, and other high performance textiles. Upon graduation in 2011, Julisha plans to pursue a career in textile engineering.
